PPF kit fitment: what a cutting service covers and what it does not

"Fitment" on a precut kit means the panel matches the pattern in the library for the VIN supplied. It does not mean the panel will lay itself. Here is exactly what that covers and how to avoid the two ways kits go wrong.

What the recut policy covers

If a panel is short, mis-shaped or missing a cutout because the pattern in the library is wrong for that VIN, the cutting service recuts it free. That is the whole recut policy, and it is the one that matters, because pattern errors are the only thing the service controls. It is not a warranty: kits are sold as cut film, and a manufacturer film warranty only attaches if you buy warranty administration with the kit.

What is not covered

  • Wrong VIN or trim. A Model Y Performance has a different front bumper from a Long Range; a Camry TRD has a different lip from an LE. If the VIN or trim supplied is wrong, the recut is charged at the cut-only rate.
  • Install. Stretch marks, lifted edges, contamination and silvering are installation outcomes.
  • Customer film. On cut-only orders, defects in the supplied roll are the customer's.
  • Returns. Cut film cannot be resold. No returns.

How to order so it fits

  1. Send the 17-digit VIN from the door jamb, not from a listing.
  2. Note aftermarket parts: lips, splitters, replacement bumpers and vented hoods change the pattern.
  3. Say whether you want wrapped edges where the library offers them; some patterns have both a wrapped and a trimmed version.
  4. Photograph the car's front if anything looks non-stock.

Our kit terms say the same thing in fewer words.
